Benefit for Steelo

Benefit For Steelo

Steelo Vazquez, member of dance crews Killafornia, Footwork Fanatix and the Groovaloos as well as portraying Spex in The LXD, suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on June 19th of this year. Consequently, Steelo suffered three more ruptures costing him the ability to walk and speak. Vazquez is currently undergoing extensive rehabilitation and ‘An Unprecedented Night of Dance’ will go towards helping Vazquez, his wife and son, pay the costs.

Steelo Vazquez has been a major part of the L.A. dance community for many years…He regularly gives back to the community through dance at benefits and fundraisers and has enjoyed mentoring youth at weekly Groove Nights hosted by The Groovaloos. In addition to his contributions to the community, he has worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment including Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Gwen Stefani. It was actually during a show on Gwen’s tour that Steelo proposed to his now wife, Penelope Vazquez…His wife Penelope has constantly been by his side during the slow recovery in ICU. She has remained strong during this ordeal to care for their son Elijah, who just recently celebrated his first birthday. Steelo’s friends, family and doctors are very hopeful for a full recovery, but it’s going to take a great deal of therapy, time and patience. Credit

Steelo is an incredible dancer and it is heartbreaking to see something like this happen. It really shows you how valuable life is and to take nothing for granted.

The fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:30 pm at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California. Also, additional donations will be put into a trust for other dancers, and their families, who need extra support. This is an incredible cause, and anyone in the LA area should get their tickets to see this incredible show.
